Beading can be used to add depth or sparkle to a garment and as well as embroidery, beading can be subtle or dramatic, depending on which beads are used.
I will always do samples to show you the effects different kinds of beads will have on your fabric. Creamy coloured pearls on ivory silk, can make a wedding dress look antique, whereas sparkly diamonds and crystals will give a modern glitzy look. The 2 beaded dress cuffs to the right are the same design but in different colour-ways and give a completely different look to a dress.
I do hand beading and tambour beading on my garments, depending on where the beading is going to be positioned on the garment.
Tambour beading is a form of hand beading that I do on a whole piece of fabric, on an embroidery frame, before the garment is cut out. It is a faster method of beading but only suitable if large areas of the garment are to be beaded.
I hand bead directly onto a made up garment if I need to see exactly where the beads need to go, for example on an Asymmetrical design or on certain areas of the garment (bodice, cuffs, train of a wedding dress etc.)
